Anyone knows if the sound files are available to get (buy) somewhere?
Assuming audio files are proprietary; owned by the person (s) responsible for MiCom. They may have been published to the Internet by a MiCom owner. @Megtooth Sith might have more insight.
Also consider Battlefront 2 audio files and AI voice generators .

I CAN solder! thank you very much!, ordered one on amazon just now, I have 3D printed the helmet so hopefully I can install it onto the helmet
Having the mic and voice changer integrated into your helmet would be incredibly cool. You could even print a case for the Velleman circuit and "weld" it in. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Sure there's something available for the iOS. Quick Google search pointed me here. https://murf.ai/resources/voice-changer-for-ios/
Etsy has several products under $200 based on the Velleman Voice Changer. If you can solder they can be had for under $20.

Added hook and loop fasteners to pouch and speakers. Used Velcro Sticky Back for Fabrics 6 in x 4 in. Cut to fit speakers and pouch. Found at Joann, available at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/VELCRO-Brand-Sticky-Fabrics-Fasteners/dp/B00N0W85WA First test yesterday, highly recommend this mod. Keeps them from shifting and looking like a chest lump.

JBL Clip 3 is a good alternative: Aux port, small form factor, reasonable price and decent sound. Less bass than BT but same output. You can compensate with Boss settings. I have two as a back up for my back up BT 3900. Note, I have a two speaker setup (linked above.)

I actually engineered a PCB button board to avoid all this solder bridging on grounds that I would include in a DIY kit.

Mass producing rigs was too time consuming, but if I can get the design where it can be mass produced, then I might be able to find a way to make that happen.
This is incredible! Thanks for sharing.

I might produce a DIY kit, and maybe offer assembled rigs on etsy when I can
This is a great plan!

Matt: Thanks SO much for that test. I really appreciate it. (Also fun to see the man behind the mask.)
So, the Boss unit controls the volume output of the microphone/modulated signal. But, there is no separate volume control for the AUX input—and that signal is just passed through and patched into the outbound sound signal, correct? The Boss manual states that for the AUX-in: "Use the controls of the connected device (audio player) to adjust the volume." So, that should work for balancing the breathing sound from an MP3 player with volume control. Does that make sense? A few other questions:
- It's not stated in the manual, but I assume the unit will play both voice modulation and AUX signals at the same time. Can you confirm?
- Which "out" port are you using to connect to your speakers (headphones, or line?)
- What connector does that port use? (XLR plug or stereo 3.5mm mini-plug?)
Note: I also saw that there is a microphone sensitivity adjustment, so that could help with eliminating ambient noise.
Not blowing you off, frantically rewaxing my tunic and sleeves for an event this evening. Completely understand what your asking. Will get some testing done soon. Thanks for your patience.

You can add a second sound signal via the line in port. But, the "looper" will not record that signal. It also deletes any loop when you turn off the unit. So, it looks like I'll need to also add a small MP3 player for breathing sounds via the line-in.

Interesting note on volume, AUX IN skips the unit's internal audio controls. Dependent on speaker volume. Meaning you can adjust MIC IN independently.

Also, I'll continue this discussion over on my WIP. @Occanum/Matt—apologies for hijacking your thread on this product.

You can also just hook up the Everplays to your Zoom. That’s what I do for Kylo, and eventually, probably Vader.
@DarthFrazier @JSmails has a good point. I started with the Zoom because of the Vaders. But went for Boss because of simplicity and recommendations from Kylo's.

Edit: OK, second issue. Can you use the "phase looper" mentioned in the product description to provide the breathing loop?
Didn't know this was a feature. Can you post a link to the documentation. I'd be willing to experiment.

I'm seriously considering this setup for Vader. I've run out of room under my armor for transducers which had worked well until I gained weight. My only concern is the lack of noise-canceling adjustment—something I've always relied on with my previous voice systems. This system is a bit of an investment and I'm leery to not have that option. Thoughts?
Noise cancelling is dependent on the microphone and positioning. I don't have any issues with ambient noise, distortion or feedback with equipment listed above. Last troop I surpassed my previous volume levels and still no issues. The crowd response was hilarious, many were startled when I spoke.
Downside is Boss and Phillips speakers are no longer being produced. So mean time to failure is a consideration.

hypercardioid mic
Do you have a link to the product page?
I start with 75% volume on Boss then increase speakers as needed. Usually six taps on each.

I run the setup from the pittforcefive video - it sounds great, but I run into issues where the mic will pick up ambient noise and feedback with the speaker in the chest mount, even under all of that TFA fabric. Anyone deal with a similar issue?
- Is your mic unidirectional?
- Does your mic have any noise canceling?
- Do you increase volume on Boss or speakers or both?
- Is the mic right up in your face hole? Mine is so close that it can pick up breathing if I'm panting.

Lost power to my Boss VE-5 this weekend. My fault for not bringing backup. Boss takes four AA batteries. Found this on Amazon, eight batteries and charging station that can also support both Philips BT3900 Speakers.

I invented the current iteration. I may dabble in a revival under a different name. It was a distraction to my sabers and costuming, building the units consumed all of my spare time, and the demands were relentless.
Mike mentions you often. Hope you and/or Cody can revive the product. It is widely used and liked by many in the 501st.

Speakers were bunching up at the top due to length of 3.5mm Y splitter. Had to straighten it. Not posting pictures because it's fugly, but works much better now.

And for the TFA do you need 2 speakers?
After two troops, inside and outside locations, I can definitively say two speakers is the way to go. Getting enough output from one Philips BT3900 causes distortion. Two speakers throws enough to overcome surcoat, my voice, and ambient noise.

A popular option for Kylo voice systems is at end of life. Announced last Thursday (5/11), MiCom is closing shop. Link to video.
https://www.facebook.com/MiComSoundRig/videos/970662913977464
A lottery will be held for the final run. To enter, message Mike directly in Facebook @MiComSoundRig.
Still no word on pricing or if a do-it-yourself kit will be made available.
