Update. One small strip of electric tape works extremely effectively. Also, if your external mic is not working it may be due to the cables being incompatible for the phone.

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the iphone's microphone so that RoboVox only uses the plugged in microphone and thusly eliminate the interference noise I get whenever I turn on the app's real-time/headphones option. If not, how does other people deal with it? (Does putting electric tape over the iphone's speakers really work?)
